| Local Living was founded in August 2005 by a group of local entrepreneurs who brought BizFizz to Alnwick. Local Living is a what is commonly known as a not-for-profit company, ie the directors are unpaid and do not hold shares. However, the group prefes the term 'for more than profit'. Local Living (LL) aims to bring jobs and economic opportunities to North Northumberland and is guided by a set of princliples. LL operates as a business and aims to make a profit. However, as LL is a social enterprise, any profits will be reinvested in projects to bring about more jobs and more economic opportunities.

R. Turnbull & Sons is Alnwick's longest established independent family butcher and greengrocer and is one of the town's oldest businesses. The shop was founded by Roger Turnbull in 1880 and is now run by Mark Turnbull, his great-great-grandson. In the late 1970s a neighbouring drapery shop, Pitts, was acquired, allowing Turnbull's to double the size of the premises, and split between a butcher's and greengrocer's. Click on the logo to find out more. This year, Turnbull's have concocted a special food festival sausage meat and cheese pasty. 10% of sales of the pasty will go towards the food festival charity, following the success of last year's Renaissance Pie.

Louis Steakhouse, 2 Market Place, Alnwick, is the concept of Alnwick butcher Mark Turnbull. The family butchers are situated across the road at Market Street and were established in 1880.
Mark wanted to create a restaurant that had hands-on control over the quality and origin of its steaks, which was passionate about steak, and a restaurant that would serve a good variety of steak cuts from a number of different breeds.
The restaurant has a contemporary feel about it in a building steeped in history. Its only decoration is a collection of specially commissioned contemporary abstract art by local artist, the late Anthony John Cartmel-Crossley. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service formal but friendly.
Open: Tuesday to Saturday,
5pm to 11pm.
Last food orders: 9.30pm.
